UK Athletics have confirmed that all eight of their individual winners from this weekend's Spar European Cup will be competing at the Aviva National Championships, which incorporate the British team selection trials on 11-13 July.

In what was a great weekend for Great Britain's athletes, the men achieved their 5th European Cup win, meaning the Bruno Zauli trophy was back in British hands for the first time since their victory in 2000 at Gateshead.

Britain's eight winners from the weekend - among them Phillips Idowu, Marlon Devonish and Nicola Sanders - will now set their sights on Birmingham in three weeks time to ensure their qualification for the Beijing Olympics.

Dave Collins UKA Performance Director said,

"I am delighted to confirm that after a great weekend for British athletes in the Spar European Cup, all eight winners from Annecy will be competing at the Aviva National Championships in three weeks time. We are all now looking forward to the Aviva National Championships. With these athletes confirmed to compete we can expect three days of high quality competition and nervous tension as they and other Great Britain athletes battle it out to secure their place on the plane to Beijing."

In what was the last ever Spar European Cup, the Great Britain and Northern Ireland women's team claimed a well deserved third place thanks to victories in the 400m and 800m from Nicola Sanders and Jenny Meadows respectively.
