What is European Athletics?

European Athletics is one of the six Area Associations of the International Association of Athletics Federations (IAAF).

European Athletics is a European non-governmental non-profit organisation of unlimited duration in the form of a constituent area association of the IAAF registered in Switzerland (since 1 January 2004, previously in Germany).

European Athletics consists of the national European Athletic Federations which are Members of the IAAF (Members). Only Federations recognised by the IAAF may apply for membership of European Athletics and shall be admitted by a decision of European Athletics Congress upon recommendation of the IAAF. Currently European Athletics has 50 Member Federations.

The domicile of European Athletics is located in Lausanne, Switzerland.
Internal Organisation

The Council, led by the President, is responsible for overseeing and supervising the activities of European Athletics.

The Executive Committee, led by the President, is responsible for carrying out all decisions taken by the European Athletics Congress and Council, co-ordinates the various activities of European Athletics and takes all necessary decisions with regard to any unforeseen or urgent matters arising between Council meetings.
