Close to 100 young people from across Europe are set to be part of the “European Athletics Youth Reporters” team that will bring you exciting coverage of the 20th European Athletics Championships to be held in Barcelona between 26 July and 1 August.

The European Athletics Youth Reporters, comprised mostly of the participants of the European Athletics-UNESCO Young Leaders Forum to be organised on the sidelines of the championships from 26-29 July, will be invited to share their experiences of the championships, the forum and the city of Barcelona by posting news reports, photos, videos and interviews on our dedicated Youth Reporters Facebook page.

The Youth Reporters initiative has proven to be highly successful and popular among athletics followers of all age groups at European Athletics events in the past. For the contributors, Barcelona 2010 will not only be a great chance to experience the buzz of life as a real-time reporter during a major event but the best contributors will also receive prizes and their work will be featured on the European Athletics website homepage.

To follow this exclusive club of European Athletics Youth Reporters in Barcelona, click here to go to the Facebook page.

The participants of the Young Leaders Forum, selected from the age group of 18-26 by European Athletics Member Federations, will get to listen to some of the big name speakers from athletics, including Olympic gold medallists Gabriella Szabo, Sergey Bubka and Sebastian Coe and world and European champion Steve Cram.

The forum will be a perfect platform for the participants to develop their skills and discuss ways for athletics to maintain and increase its relevance for young people across Europe. Participants will automatically become members of an online community (athleticscommunity.org) of young leaders, which will be launched during the forum.

Meet our star reporters from Bergen

This time they were mingling with Europe’s biggest athletic stars at the SPAR European Team Championships in Bergen.

It gives us great pleasure to introduce Simon Østrem and Christer Steffensen, both athletic nuts, and both itching to get that exclusive interview with their athletic heroes!

While they figured out athletics reporting is not all that easy it nevertheless turned out to be a great learning experience for both of them. Take a look at the reports filed by the two budding reporters…
