Pars and Heidler confirmed as winners of 2011 IAAF World Hammer Throw Challenge

The standings in the Challenge are decided by an accumulated total from a thrower's best three results in a series of nominated competitions throughout the season.
The second season of the IAAF Hammer Throw Challenge consisted of nine meetings, with seven scoring opportunities for men and six for women and the last competition being in Zagreb a week ago.
Pars and world record holder Heidler ended up with silver medals at the recent 2011 IAAF World Championships, with both throwers admitting that they were slightly disappointing with the result as they went to Daegu with gold medal ambitions, but the pair got compensation by being handsomely rewarded for their season-long high-level consistency.
Pars has won 18 of his 21 competitions this season, including at the European Cup Winter Throwing event in March, while Heidler has also been on form throughout the year with 12 wins from her 15 outings.
Both athletes are also among the 2011 European Athlete of the Year nominations (to vote, go to the link at the top of this website's home page).
The top 12 positions in the Challenge were rewarded from a total prize fund of $202,000: $101,000 for both men and women.
