White Cross meeting a prelude to 2013 SPAR European Cross Country Championships
The winter's series of European Athletics Cross Country Permit races comes to an end on Sunday with the traditional White Cross meeting in the Serbian capital of Belgrade, the venue for the 2013 SPAR European Cross Country Championships."The White Cross meeting has been held for 45 years but every year becomes more important. This is a great prelude to the SPAR European Cross Country Championships which will be held in our capital city," said the meeting director Brana Radovic.
Radovic expects almost 1000 runners to compete in the seven races being staged, despite the challenging snowy conditions underfoot on the 1000m circuit.
The main events will be a 3km race for women and a men's 8km race.
"In addition to the domestic competitors, we expect about 70 participants from 11 countries,” he added.
Bosnia and Herzegovina, Bulgaria, Hungary, Moldova, Russia Slovenia and Sweden are all expected to be represented in Belgrade.
