Ed Warner to continue as UK Athletics chairman until 2018
UK Athletics announced on Saturday that its chairman Ed Warner will continue in that role through to January 2018.The UK Members Council voted unanimously that they wanted to Warner to lead UK Athletics through to the 2017 IAAF World Championships, which will be staged in London.
Warner, originally appointed to the post of chairman in 2007, was a key member of the campaign team which secured the right to host the Championships last November.
“I am thrilled that the UK Members Council has extended my term to enable me to really see the job through to a natural culmination post World Championships. I would like to thank them for the belief they have placed in me on behalf of our sport and I will continue to put the best interests of athletics at the heart of everything we do,” said Warner.
UK Athletics President Lynn Davis, who also heads up the UK Members Council added: “Ed has done a tremendous job for athletics over the last five years and every member of the Council believes that he is the right man to take us through this important year and beyond.”
