The Slovenian city of Maribor has been confirmed as the host venue for the 2025 European Athletics Team Championships 2nd Division and 3rd Division.
Both divisions will be held at the recently renovated Athletic Stadium Poljane Maribor which also hosted the athletics programme for the 2023 European Youth Olympic Festival as well as the 2024 Balkan U18 Championships.
The 3rd Division takes place on 24-25 June with the 2nd Division, which features hosts Slovenia, taking place on 28-29 June.
A full composition of each division for the 2025 European Athletics Team Championships can be found here.
Slovenia just missed out on promotion to the 1st Division at the 2023 European Athletics Team Championships in Silesia, finishing fourth and an agonising 0.5 points behind Lithuania who sealed the third and final promotion spot into the highest echelon of the biennial championships after a thrilling and tense final day.
However, a full-strength Slovenian team including reigning European discus champion Kristjan Ceh - who won maximum points at the 2023 European Athletics Team Championships with a championship record of 69.94m - will be hopeful of securing a top three finish and promotion into the 1st Division for the first time in championship history.
Other highlights from a Slovenian standpoint in 2023 included victories for Tina Sutej and Marusa Mismas-Zrimsek in the pole vault and 3000m steeplechase respectively and Anita Horvat anchoring Slovenia to maximum points in the mixed 4x400m relay.
The European Athletics Team Championships 1st Division takes place on 27-29 June in Madrid, Spain where Italy will be looking to retain their overall title after winning for the first time in championship history in 2023.
