After being held as an innovative – and highly successful – online e-Convention in 2020 owing the Covid pandemic, the annual European Athletics Convention returned to being staged as an in-person event in 2021 when it was be held in Lausanne, Switzerland on the 15-16 October.
Member Federations, European Athletics Partners, meeting organisers and delegates from other associated organisations were in attendance, with the Convention being held in both the Hotel Royal Savoy and nearby the Hotel Carlton in the centres of Lausanne.
The two-day programme included ten workshops and two panel sessions addressing topic of interest to anyone involved in athletics in Europe and, as usual, there were meetings of regional athletics organisations and specific interest groups.
The Convention concluded on the evening of Saturday 16 October with the glittering and spectacular Golden Tracks awards ceremony at the Swiss Tech Convention Centre in Lausanne, which saw the winners of the men’s and women’s European Athlete of the Year and Rising Star for 2021 announced.

The European Athletics Convention is designed to support our Member Federations, offering opportunities for education, networking, planning and debriefing as well as socialising, along with the usual area or interest group meetings and calendar planning activities.
The 2022 European Athletics Convention will be held in Estonia, Tallinn on 20-22 October.
