Tickets for the 2016 European Athletics Championships in Amsterdam are proving popular - with 50,000 tickets already sold for the 6-10 July event.
“With these numbers we can conclude that interest for the event is increasing significantly in the Netherlands,” says Ellen van Langen, Event Ambassador. “Our next aim is to pass 100,000 tickets sold.”
In the autumn of 2015, ticket sales for the European Athletics Championships started with week passes and day tickets. As of mid-April, single session tickets will be on offer for the afternoon and evening programmes.

Due to the favourably priced day tickets, many seats for the evening sessions have already been sold. The evening sessions are understandably most popular because that’s when the finals are held.
The Dutch supporters will be thrilled to see their own national sprinting star Dafne Schippers, the reigning European 100m and 200m champion from Zurich 2014. She has yet to decide whether she’ll be competing over 100m or 200m or both in Amsterdam.
“More and more people are becoming aware that the European Athletics Championships are unique and of an unprecedented scale. With the participation of many Dutch athletes it will become a true party with a typical orange touch,” van Langen added.
On the final day of the European Athletics Championships the half marathon is scheduled for the first time in history, immediately followed by the Brooks 10K Champions Run for recreational runners. The course of both runs on Sunday 10 July takes participants through the city centre of Amsterdam, including the canals and the Museumplein (start and finish).
