World record holder Mondo Duplantis will be joined by recently awarded gold and bronze medallists from the Apeldoorn 2025 European Athletics Indoor Championships Emmanouil Karalis and Sondre Guttormsen at the eponymous Mondo Classic on Thursday (11).
The fourth edition of the event takes place in Uppsala, Sweden and includes an all-star cast in the pole vault meeting.
It will be Olympic champion Mondo’s third appearance of the indoor season, his most recent outing in Clermont-Ferrand, France on 25 February saw him set a new world record of 6.27m. More record attempts are a near certainty this week.
Six metre jumpers amass
Karalis, who shared gold at Apeldoorn 2025 on Sunday (9) with the Netherlands' Menno Vloon, is cementing his reputation as a six metre jumper, having cleared 6.01m and 6.02m already this season for new national records.
Norway's Guttormsen took bronze in Apeldoorn to go with gold earned two years earlier at Istanbul 2023 and will also be looking towards six metres, having cleared a season’s best of 5.90m on Sunday (9).
Türkiye’s Ersu Şaşma, fifth in last year’s Paris Olympics, and former Olympic champion and world record holder Renaud Lavillenie of France are in a stacked field. The Mondo Classic is a World Indoor Tour Silver meeting.
