Great Britain’s Dina Asher-Smith has been added to an excellent cast for the Meeting di Savona on 13 May, a European Athletics Area Permit Meeting.

Asher-Smith is due to contest the 200m in Savona, the event in which she is the reigning world and two-time European champion and also holds the British record with 21.88.

Asher-Smith faces a line-up which includes teammate and fellow European finalist Beth Dobbin as well as Bulgaria’s Ivet Lalova-Collio, who won silver behind Asher-Smith in the 200m at the 2016 European Championships in Amsterdam.

Ten days later Asher-Smith will race over 100m on home soil in the Gateshead Diamond League against a field which could grace any global final, including Jamaicans Shelly-Ann Fraser-Pryce and Elaine Thompson-Herah plus Sha’Carri Richardson from the United States.

The organisers have already announced that Italian record-holder Filippo Tortu and European indoor 60m champion Marcell Lamont Jacobs will go head-to-head in a tantalising domestic head-to-head in the 100m while world indoor U20 record-holder Larissa Iapichino makes her outdoor season’s debut in the long jump.

Reigning European indoor champion Oscar Husillos is confirmed for the 400m while reigning world indoor 60m hurdles champion Andrew Pozzi from Great Britain and world outdoor silver medallist Amel Tuka from Bosnia & Herzegovina are also confirmed for the 110m hurdles and 800m respectively.
