Olympic 10,000m silver medallist Nadia Battocletti has confirmed she will be targeting another European title on a third surface in just ten months.

Following her 5000m/10,000m double at the Roma 2024 European Athletics Championships in front of her Italian fans last June, she added the senior women’s title at the SPAR European Cross Country Championships in Antalya, Türkiye in December.

Now she has set her sights on the road at the inaugural European Running Championships in Brussels-Leuven, Belgium on 12-13 April, where she will take on the 10km.

In the aftermath of winning the senior women’s race at the Italian Cross Country Championships in Cassino on Sunday (16), she told FIDAL. “My next commitments will be the 10km of the European Road Running Championships on April 13 in Brussels-Leuven and then the 5km on the road in Tokyo on May 3.”

Run with the champions

Recreational runners will have the opportunity to run with Battocletti and the other elite athletes for the first time ever in a European Athletics championship event.

Also, the top 25 runners from each country – elite and amateur - will have their result contributing to the country’s team ranking in 10km, half marathon and marathon distances.

The courses feature the iconic European Parliament in Brussels, the famous Tervuren Park, Leuven’s majestic City Hall and iconic brewery. Entries are nearing full capacity for all events, but there are still some places available.
