The Belgian men and Finnish women were the top teams at the European Cup Combined Events Second League in Tel Aviv, Israel, on Sunday.

Belgium’s three scorers totalled 22,176 points in the Decathlon to get immediate promotion after being relegated from the First League 12 months ago. They finished just in front of second-placed Greece, who having just missed out on promotion in third place last year, got 21,070 points and were also promoted.

Serbia’s Igor Sarcevic was the individual winner, adding more than 400 points to his personal best with 7921 points.

Finland won the Heptathlon with 16,660 points, well ahead of second-placed Norway who scored 15,766 points, and both the Scandinavian countries were promoted to next year’s First League.

The individual winner also came from Finland as Niina Kelo scored 5817 points, with Iceland’s 18-year-old Helga Margret Thorsteindottir second with 5757 points.
