Mondo Duplantis won the fourth edition of his own annual pole vault meeting, the Mondo Classic on Thursday (13), with a best clearance of 6.05m in Uppsala, Sweden.
Once the opposition had melted away, the bar was raised to a new world record height of 6.28m, which he has two good attempts at. Next up for the flying Swede is the World Indoor Championships in Nanjing, China on 21-23 March.
Over 2000 spectators crammed into the IFU Arena to see Mondo first hand and witness the rest of the world’s best in the pole vault at the World Indoor Tour Silver meeting. Emmanouil Karalis, who recently shared gold with the Netherlands’ Menno Vloon at the Apeldoorn 2025 European Athletics Indoor Championships, was also in fine form.
The Greek athlete cleared six metres for the fourth time, getting over 6.00m at the third attempt. He faltered when attempted a new national record of 6.05m, but could be well satisfied with second place and his third competition this indoor season over six metres.
