Sweden’s Armand Duplantis and Portugal’s Carla Salome Rocha both came out on top of the Athlete of the Month voting for April.
On the men’s side, Duplantis tallied 2754 votes across Facebook, Twitter and Instagram to win by a clear margin ahead of Türkiye’s Kaan Kigen Ozbilen (1601 votes) and Norway’s Ola Stunes Isene (1572 votes).
The women’s voting was decidedly closer with Rocha accruing 2515 votes across the three platforms ahead of Italy’s Eleonora Giorgi (2350 vote) and the Netherlands’ Sifan Hassan (1297 votes).
Duplantis has started his outdoor season in excellent form. He cleared a world-leading height of 5.94m in just his second competition of the year in Baton Rouge, Louisiana - where he trains and studies - before three good attempts at a prospective US collegiate record of 6.01m.
Rocha was also in excellent form on the roads, finishing eighth in the London Marathon in a 2:24:47 PB to move to third on the Portuguese all-time list behind Rosa Mota (2:23:29) and Jessica Augusto (2:24:25).
In the women's race, Carla Salome Rocha moved to third on the Portuguese all-time list with 2:24:47 to finish eighth.
