Olympic champion and world record-holder Armand Duplantis will face a glittering line-up including two-time world champion Sam Kendricks from the United States on home soil in Uppsala on 9 February.
The special pole vault-only meeting will take place in the IFU Arena in Uppsala which serves as one of Duplantis’ principal training venues, and the organisers have assembled a field of the highest calibre to challenge the home favourite. The arena is expected to be able to accommodate up to 2300 spectators.
"I am very happy that my club, Uppsala IF Athletics, is organising this pole vault gala. To be able to compete in my home arena in Uppsala together with the world's best pole vaulters - in the hall where I have spent so many hours training - means a lot to me. It's going to be crazy fun and we're going to aim for high jumps," said Duplantis.
Aside from Kendricks and Duplantis, the line-up also features world bronze medallist Piotr Lisek from Poland along with Olympic silver medallist Chris Nilsen from the United States, Olympic fourth-placer Emmanouil Karalis from Greece and fellow US pole vaulter KC Lightfoot who cleared 6.00m indoors in 2021.
Duplantis is also already scheduled to compete in Karlsruhe (28 January), Berlin (4 February) and Birmingham (19 February) during the 2022 indoor season.
