The European Athletics Athletes Commission is planning to engage more with current athletes through social media channels in order to make communication easier, so has set up a Facebook group and Twitter account.

The Commission encourages all athletes to enter the conversation and stay informed by joining the Athletes Commission Facebook group and following the @EA_Athletes Twitter account.

The newly elected Athletes Commission has outlined its areas of focus over the next few years, and says it will be working hard in the fight against doping by becoming more involved in the European Athletics Anti-Doping Education Programme.

It will also be involved in discussions regarding the restructuring of our sport, especially in the field of qualifications for the European Athletics Championships and the one-day meetings programme.

The Commission will continue to work in the areas of 'Health and Well-Being' and “High Performance” in order to introduce more newcomers to the sport.

The European Athletics Athletes Commission is made up of Ivet Lalova (BUL), Isabelle Pedersen (NOR), Hanna-Maari Latvala (FIN), Dana Veldakova (SVK), Günther Weidlinger (AUT), Christian Olsson (SWE), Nicola Vizzoni (ITA) and Periklis Iakovakis (GRE).

Günther Weidlinger (AUT) was appointed as Chairman of the Commission, while Periklis Iakovakis (GRE) was designated as the representative of the Athletes’ Commission in the European Athletics Competition Commission, to be informed about matters linked to competition and to be the athletes’ “voice” in this group.
