Russia retained their crown at the 4th European Athletics Team Championships Super League in Gateshead after a day of incredible drama.

The defending champions complete a hat-trick taking the top slot in Gateshead with 354.5 points, Germany followed in the second place with 347.5 points. Hosts Great Britain finished third with 338 points.

The Czech Republic topped the table at the European Athletics Team Championships First League in Dublin with 351.5 points, while Sweden and the Netherlands finished second and third with 311 and 299 points respectively. All three teams earned promotion to the top league for 2014.

Slovenia finished at the top in the Second League held in Kaunas with 221 points while hosts Lithuania finished second with 209 points and both were promoted to the First League for the next year.

In the Third League in Banska Bystrica, hosts Slovak Republic topped the charts with 531.5 points while Latvia followed suit with 484.5 points to earn promotion to the Second League for the next year.

The bottom three teams in the Super League in Gateshead were relegated to the First League for 2014, while the bottom two teams from the First and Second League were also relegated.
