The host nation is in the midst of a golden era in athletics and has confirmed multiple world and European champion, the now-retired Dafne Schippers as the event's Tournament Director.
One of the highlights of the recent World Athletics Indoor Championships in Glasgow saw the current European Athlete of the Year Femke Bol set a new world record of 49.17, leading a Dutch 1-2 in the women's 400m with Lieke Klaver taking the silver, before the dynamic duo combined forces to help win gold in the women's 4x400m final.
With the likes of shot putter Jessica Schilder (2022 European gold, 2022 World bronze), sprint hurdler Nadine Visser (2019, 2021 European indoor gold), high jumper Douwe Amels (2023 European indoor gold), multi-eventer Sofie Dokter (2024 World indoor bronze), distance runner Sifan Hassan (Olympic 10,000m and 5000m champion), the home nation are not short of medal prospects.
