The Netherlands played host to the European Athletics Event and Competition Commission on 4-5 October, with members able to visit both the national performance centre and the venue for one of next year’s major events.
The group visited both the Omnisport Arena in Apeldoorn, site of the 2025 European Athletics Indoor Championships (6-9 March) and the Dutch Olympic Training Centre in Papendal, which will also be a training venue for Apeldoorn 2025.
Key topics discussed by the Commission included the European Athletics calendar and World Athletics global calendar through to 2028, the continued development and promotion of one day meetings (World Athletics Silver, Bronze, Challenger) in Europe.
Additionally, they discussed improvement in entry procedures for European Athletics events, changes to European Athletics competition regulations, timetable principles, the Education programme for Technical Officials and the European Athletics policy for Biomechanical study.
