Final entries for the Second and Third Divisions of the Silesia 2023 European Athletics Team Championships have been published and are now available to view.

Second Division

Third Division

The European Athletics Team Championships forms part of the third edition of the European Games in Krakow-Malopolska and for the first time in event history, all three divisions will be held in the same location from 20-25 June.

The 3rd Division occupies the morning sessions from 20-22 June and the 2nd Division takes place in the evening sessions from 20-22 June ahead of the 1st Division which occupies the primetime evening slots from 23-25 June. All three divisions will be streamed through the European Athletics website on the All-Athletics platform.

The full timetable can be found here.

Five reigning European outdoor champions from Munich 2022 will be in action for their respective countries across the European Athletics Team Championships 2nd and 3rd Divisions.

Unable to compete two years ago due to coronavirus concerns, Ukraine will be seeking immediate promotion back to the First Division and their team is spearheaded by reigning European champions Yaroslava Mahuchikh and Maryna Bekh-Romanchuk with the latter attempting a long jump/triple jump double.

European shot put champion Filip Mihaljevic is one of the star names on the Croatian team while fellow European champion Bianca Ghelber will be seeking maximum points for Romania in the hammer.

Another highlight in the 2nd Division will be the men’s discus featuring reigning world champion Kristjan Ceh up against former world and European champion Andrius Gudzius from Lithuania.

In the 3rd Division, European 3000m steeplechase champion Luiza Gega will be seeking maximum points for Albania in both the 3000m steeplechase and the 5000m.

Based on season’s best performances, Gega is the fastest in the 3000m steeplechase by more than half-a-minute but she will face strong opposition in the 5000m from Israel’s Lonah Chemtai Salpeter, the reigning world marathon bronze medallist and 2018 European 10,000m champion.

But if Gega does win both events in Silesia, she will match Bulgaria’s Ivet Lalova-Collio as the most successful athlete in European Athletics Team Championships history with 11 wins and two runner-up finishes.

Full and in-depth previews of all three divisions will be published on the European Athletics website later this week.
