Final entries for the Jerusalem 2023 European Athletics U20 Championships from 7-10 August have been published and can be viewed below.
The entry-list features many athletes who excelled at last year’s European Athletics U18 Championships which were also held in Jerusalem, including Niels Laros from the Netherlands.
Laros won a 1500/3000m double last year and he has entered the 800m, 1500m, 3000m and 5000m at these championships. Laros is the fastest entrant in the 800m (1:44.78), 1500m (3:32.89) and 5000m (13:23.01) but is yet to contest a 3000m this year.
Serbia’s Angelina Topic followed up her European U18 gold with senior bronze at the European Athletics Championships and the 18-year-old will be in contention for a brace of medals next month.
Topic leads the entry-list in the high jump with 1.97m and is also equal second in the long jump with a lifetime best of 6.54m.
Italy’s Mattia Furlani completed this double at last year’s U18 Championships but he is focusing solely on the long jump this season. Furlani is the only jumper to have broken the eight metre-barrier with a wind-legal 8.24m but he has also recorded a marginally wind-assisted 8.44m this year.
Croatia’s Jana Koscak will be looking to follow up her world U18 best in Gotzis with gold in the heptathlon. And it could be a good championships for the Koscak family as her older sister Klara is the fastest on paper in the 100m hurdles with 13.22.
