President Svein Arne Hansen and Vice President Jean Gracia travelled to Kosovo, the latest Member Federation to be admitted to European Athletics, from 16-17 December.
They were warmly welcomed by leaders of the Kosovo Athletics Federation and representatives of the city of Pristina. They then met with the Deputy Minister of Culture, Youth and Sports, Rexhep Hoti, to speak about strengthening athletics within the country.
“It was a great pleasure to visit our newest Member of European Athletics and we look forward to welcoming the first athletes from Kosovo to our European Athletics Championships in Amsterdam next year,” said President Hansen.
The European Athletics officials were then invited to the Kosovo Athletics Gala where President Hansen was introduced to some of Kosovo’s top athletes and coaches. He also met with the Kosovo Olympic Committee President Besim Hasani.
“It’s the role of European Athletics to assist Kosovar athletes to increase their presence in international events,” said Vice President Gracia.
Hansen will attend the Slovak Athletics Gala in Bratislava this evening and the Ukrainian Athletics Awards in Kyiv the following night.
