The European Athletics Member Federation Development Commission met in Rome at the weekend to receive updates on all activities and make proposals for the future.

Chaired by European Athletics Vice President Jean Gracia, the Commission members discussed the implementation of a Member Federation Development Support System Project and put forward ideas regarding governance in athletics.

The Commission recommended that European Athletics pursue all activities related to the Running for All initiative which has grown rapidly due to the support of the athletics federations to promote the Quality and Safety Standards for road races across Europe.

Having worked closely with the European Commission last year to promote the European Week of Sport, the commission recommended repeating these efforts as part of the strategy to expand the number of road races certified by Running for All.

Among other topics, was the preparations for the upcoming Young Leaders Forum to be held on the sidelines of the European Athletics Championships in Amsterdam.

Gracia then briefed the Commission on the implementation of the European Union’s Erasmus+ programme, which includes the EU’s budget for funding sport-related projects.

The next Commission meeting will take place in Warsaw from 30 September to 2 October.

Member Federation Development Commission members Jean Gracia (Chair, FRA), Nick Davis (IRL), Piotr Dlugosielski (POL), Alfio Giomi (ITA), Curt Högbert (SWE), Jakob Larsen (DEN), Ana Lukovic (SRB), Jean-Pierre Schoebel (MON), Erich Teigamägi (EST), Vadim Zelichenok (RUS), and Marc Sintes representing the Head Office as Deputy Chair.
