  • Important update relating to Munich 2022 European Athletics Championships Covid-19 regulations

The European Athletics Events Department notes that the overall situation regarding Covid-19 in Germany has improved significantly in recent months and, hence, many restrictions have been lifted by the various public authorities.

Consequently, Munich 2022 Local Organising Committee (LOC) has also reconsidered and adjusted the measures in place for the these Championships and there will be no controls of vaccination or recovery status for the European Athletics Championships Munich 2022.

Social distancing and wearing a mask remain recommended, especially in indoor facilities. Masks and hand disinfectants will be provided by the LOC at all venues.

Participants wishing to undergo voluntary rapid antigen testing (PoC) will be able to do so at testing stations (exact locations to be confirmed at a later stage).

Participants with a confirmed SARS Cov-2 infection will not be allowed to access the sports venues and will be required to go into isolation.

As of 23 May 2022, travellers aged 12 or over must, irrespective of the mode of transport or whether they previously spent time in a high-risk area or area of variants of concern, as a rule carry with them a negative test result or proof of vaccination or recovery when entering Germany.

Such proof may also be demanded by the Federal Police or the competent authority. Persons travelling by air must already present such proof to their carrier before departure.

For additional details, please refer to the local guidelines which can be accessed here.
