Olympic 100m and 4x100m champion Marcell Jacobs will race for the first time since winning two gold medals in Tokyo at the ISTAF Indoor in Berlin on 4 February, a World Athletics Indoor Tour Silver meeting.

Jacobs is planning a full indoor season in the 60m which will culminate at the World Athletics Indoor Championships in Belgrade, Serbia on 18-20 March.

His schedule is yet to be fully finalised but Jacobs will also race at the Italian Indoor Championships in Ancona on 25-27 February. This will be his first competitive appearance on domestic soil since springing to stardom at the 2020 Olympic Games in Tokyo.

Ahead of the winter season, Jacobs will travel to Tenerife after Christmas for one month of warm weather training in preparation for his indoor campaign. “In winter we will do ten to twelve races including heats and finals,” said his coach Paolo Camossi.

Jacobs opened his 2021 season at the ISTAF Indoor with a second-place finish in the 60m in 6.55 and his indoor season concluded with a dominant gold at the Torun 2021 European Athletics Indoor Championships where he ran a world lead and Italian record of 6.47.

Germany’s European 100m silver medallist Gina Luckenkemper is also confirmed for the women’s 60m while Olympic and European pole vault champion and world record-holder Armand Duplantis has already been announced for the pole vault.
