More than 30,000 votes were cast across Facebook, Twitter and Instagram to decide this month’s European Athletes of the Month.

On the men’s side, multiple European champion Jakob Ingebrigtsen from Norway dominated the voting with 4717 votes across the three platforms ahead of Poland’s Piotr Lisek (3707 votes) and Karsten Warholm (3579 votes).

Ingebrigtsen enjoyed another stellar month in which he broke his European U20 1500m record with 3:30.16 in Lausanne followed by a 3:30.47 clocking in Monaco before smashing his European U20 5000m record with 13:02.03 in London to finish a close second to Ethiopia’s Hagos Gebrhiwet.

Ingebrigtsen just missed older brother Filip’s Norwegian record of 3:30.01 in the 1500m but his time in the London Diamond League did eclipse the long-standing Norwegian record of 13:06.39.

The women’s voting was much closer with Denmark’s Anna Emilie Moller accruing 2931 votes ahead of reigning world and European champion high jump champion Mariya Lasitskene (2717 votes) and Belarus’ European 100m hurdles champion Elvira Herman (2701 votes).

Moller won two gold medals in 24 hours at the Gavle 2019 European Athletics U23 Championships. The Dane successfully defended her title in the 3000m steeplechase in a championship record of 9:27.31 before winning the 5000m title on the following day in a national record of 15:07.70.
