France will send six runners to the European Cup 10,000m in the Spanish city of Bilbao on 3 June, including a strong men's team that could be in contention for the the gold medal after finishing second in Oslo 12 months ago.

Abdellatif Meftah, who was second in 2010 and can boast of a best of 27:34.81, will lead the team and be accompanied by 2006 individual winner Moktar Benhari, Stephane Lefrand, Benjamin Malaty and Denis Mayaud.

France has won the men's team event twice before, in 2006 and 2010.

The only female representative of Les Bleus will be French marathon record holder Christelle Daunay, who achieved her personal best when finishing second in the 2011 Cup in 31:44.84.
