European U23 800m champion Yanis Meziane provided one of the highlights with victory on home soil at the Meeting de Nantes Metropole, a World Athletics Indoor Tour Bronze event, on Saturday (25) afternoon.

Meziane took the victory in 1:46.28, holding off Ireland’s 2022 European bronze medallist Mark English who was second in 1:46.48 with fellow Frenchman Paul Anselmini taking third in an indoor lifetime best of 1:47.09.

There was a surprise outcome in the women’s 800m with Clara Liberman smashing her indoor lifetime best from 2:03.07 to 2:01.46 - also a meeting record - to defeat European 1500m bronze medallist and Olympic finalist Agathe Guillemot in 2:01.68.

Other highlights from a French standpoint includes former world and European indoor 60m hurdles bronze medallist Aurel Manga winning in 7.60 ahead of European U23 bronze medallist Erwann Cinna in 7.63 and Orlann Oliere, who won silver in the 4x100m at the 2024 European Athletics Championships, winning the 60m in 7.30.

There was also a Spanish double in the 400m with Inaki Canal the fastest across the two races in the men’s event with 46.38. Teammate Eva Santidrian won the women’s 400m in 52.83.
