Have your say on who should be crowned men's European Athlete of the Year in 2024!

Sign up to cast your vote on the dedicated European Athlete of the Year voting platform here and you will also be in with a chance of winning prizes* including tickets to a European Athletics event in 2025, posters signed by an athlete attending the Golden Tracks awards and EA merchandise!.

The voting process is made up of four parts and the three finalists in all four categories, men's and women's European Athlete of the Year and men's and women's Rising Star, will be announced on 8-9 October.

  • Member Federation vote (25 percent)
  • Media vote (25 percent)
  • European Athletics expert panel vote (25 percent)

The winners will be announced and presented with their trophies at the Golden Tracks award ceremony which takes place in Skopje, North Macedonia on 26 October and will be streamed live through the European Athletics YouTube channel.

Last year's European Athletes of the Year were Norway's Jakob Ingebrigtsen and Femke Bol from the Netherlands, both of whom were also crowned European Athletes of the Year in 2022.

Here are the 10 nominees for this year's men's European Athlete of the Year trophy in alphabetical order along with their principal achievements in 2024. 

Mykolas Alekna (LTU)

  • World discus record-holder with 74.35m
  • Olympic discus silver medallist
  • European discus bronze medallist

Jordan Diaz (ESP)

  • Olympic triple jump champion
  • European triple jump champion
  • World leader and second on European all-time list with 18.18m

Armand Duplantis (SWE)

  • European pole vault champion
  • World record clearances of 6.24m, 6.25m and 6.26m
  • Olympic pole vault champion
  • World indoor pole vault champion
  • Diamond League champion

Leonardo Fabbri (ITA)

  • European shot put champion
  • World indoor bronze medallist
  • Second on European all-time list with 22.98m
  • Diamond League champion

Matthew Hudson-Smith (GBR)

  • Olympic 400m silver medallist and 4x400m bronze medallist
  • European 400m record-holder with 43.44

Jakob Ingebrigtsen (NOR)

  • European 1500m and 5000m champion
  • Olympic 5000m champion
  • World 3000m record of 7:17.55
  • European 1500m record with 3:26.73
  • Diamond League 100m champion

Markus Rooth (NOR)

  • Olympic decathlon champion
  • Second on 2024 world list with 8796 points

Gianmarco Tamberi (ITA)

  • European high jump champion
