European champion Ana Peleteiro-Compaoré is among 36 athletes named in Spain’s for the Apeldoorn 2025 European Athletics Indoor Championships from March 6-9.
Peleteiro-Compaoré, who won gold at the Roma 2024 European Athletics Championships, will be looking to regain a title she last won at Torun 2021. She will be joined in the Netherlands by Fátima Diame, world indoor bronze medallist in the women’s long jump and men’s sprint hurdler Enrique Llopis, silver medallist at Roma 2024.
21-year-old Abel Jordan has been one of the breakthrough athletes of the indoor season, becoming European co-leader in the men’s 60m (6.54). He is selected both for the flat sprint and the men’s 60m hurdles.
Strong 800m trio
The customary Spanish challenge in the distance races will be spearheaded by a three-pronged attack in the men’s 800m through European leader Elvin Josué Canales, 2022 world indoor 800m champion Mariano García and 2019 European indoor champion Álvaro de Arriba. Roma 2024 women’s 5000m bronze medallist Marta García will contest the 3000m.
