The Netherlands has selected a team of 59 athletes for the Roma 2024 European Athletics Championships from 7-12 June.
Their team is headed by treble European champion Femke Bol who will defend her 400m hurdles title next month - and has also been named in both the mixed and women’s 4x400m teams - and reigning European shot put champion Jessica Schilder.
Double European U18 and U20 champion Niels Laros, who reached the world 1500m final at the age of 18 last summer, makes his senior debut at the European Athletics Championships next month. He is entered for both the 800m and 1500m.
Other prospective medal winners on the Dutch team include Nadine Visser in the 100m hurdles, Lieke Klaver in the 400m, Menno Vloon in the pole vault and Jorinde Van Klinken who is targeting medals in both the shot put and discus.
Thanks in no small part to Bol’s exploits, the Netherlands won four gold medals and six medals in total at the 2022 European Athletics Championships to finish fifth on the medal table.
