As international athletics returned to Stockholm for the first time since 2016, Fanny Roos highlighted the inaugural Folksam Grand Prix Sparet 100, a European Athletics Indoor Permit Meeting, by breaking her Swedish indoor record on Monday (4) night.

Making her first competitive appearance of the 2019 season, the reigning European U23 shot put champion didn’t elicit any signs of lacking in competition as she improved her mark from 18.11m to 18.27m in the second round before a sixth-round finale of 18.33m.

Eleventh at the Berlin 2018 European Athletics Championships, Roos could challenge for her first senior medal at the Glasgow 2019 European Athletics Indoor Championships in less than a month. She currently sits at fourth on the 2019 European lists, the position she occupied at the last European Indoor Championships in Belgrade in 2017.

Fresh from victory at the IAAF World Indoor Tour in Karlsruhe on Saturday night, European 800m silver medallist Andreas Kramer missed out on the national indoor record of 1:45.91 but the 22-year-old had the beating of a good field in the last event of the programme.

On the road to Glasgow, Kramer clocked 1:48.50 with the highly vaunted Australian pair of Joseph Deng and Peter Bol second (1:48.68) and fourth (1:50.47) respectively.

Former world U18 200m champion Irene Ekelund also won the 60m in 7.40.
