European Athletics has awarded the 2014 European Cup 10,000m to the Macedonian capital city of Skopje.

The European Athletics Executive Board approved the decision during its meeting in Lausanne, Switzerland, on 23-24 April 2013.

The competition will take place on 7 June 2014.

In the event, each European Athletics Member Federation may enter 1 team comprising a maximum of 6 athletes in each event provided that each athlete has achieved the relevant qualifying standard.

Each team’s score shall be determined by the aggregate of the 3 fastest times achieved by its athletes.

Last year it was Italy who triumphed in the men’s and Spain in the women’s competition.

Naturally medals are also awarded in the individual competition.

In 2013, Germany’s Sabrina Mockenhaupt was the champion after finishing third two years ago.

In the men’s it was Sergio Sanchez of Spain who triumphed.
