Serbian long jumper Ivana Spanovic and Italian high jumper Gianmarco Tamberi have been voted European Athletes of the Month for March.

Voting for European Athlete of the Month took place through our European Athletics Twitter and Facebook pages over the past week. Athletes with the most combined Twitter 'retweets' and Facebook 'likes' were crowned the winners.

With a record breaking 9,400 combined likes, retweets & shares Spanovic was the winner on the women's side. She jumped a national record and European-leading mark of 7.07m to win silver at the IAAF World Indoor Championships Portland 2016.

The half-bearded Tamberi took his second straight European Athlete of the Month award with over 2,500 votes. He won his first major international high jump gold with 2.36m in Portland.
