Spain has announced a 40-strong team for the SPAR European Cross Country Championships in Antalya, Türkiye on 8 December.

The Spaniards have unveiled a particularly strong team for the mixed relay who will arrive at the Dokuma Park with strong intentions of regaining the title they won in Tilburg 2018.

The quartet includes reigning European indoor 800m champion Adrian Ben who will be joined by two-time European indoor 1500m bronze medallist Jesus Gomez along with national 1500m record-holder Marta Perez and Esther Guerrero, the only remaining member of their gold medal-winning team from 2018.

Individual and team medals also beckon for Spain in the senior men’s race. Their six-strong team includes European 10,000m bronze medallist Thierry Ndikumwenayo, the highest-placer European finisher at the World Cross Country Championships in Belgrade this March when he finished ninth, and 2018 silver medallist Adel Mechaal.

The Spaniards haven’t won the senior men’s team title since 2015 but this year’s team will have high hopes of making the top of the podium as a collective.

The Spaniards have also named a strong women’s U23 team including 2022 European U20 cross country champion Maria Forero and 2023 European U23 3000m steeplechase bronze medallist Marta Serrano.

The full Spanish team can be found here.
