  • Tallinn confirmed as new host city of European Athletics U23 Championships

The European Athletics U23 Championships is now due to take place in Tallinn, Estonia from 8-11 July.

The biennial championships were initially due to be held on the same dates in Bergen, Norway before they were forced to withdraw owing to ongoing restrictions relating to coronavirus.

This means the Estonian capital will be staging two age-group championships this summer in back-to-back weeks. One week after the European Athletics U23 Championships, the Kadriorg Stadium will also host the European Athletics U20 Championships between 15-18 July.

Tallinn last staged the European Athletics U23 Championships in 2015 when notable champions included reigning European senior champions Nafissatou Thiam (high jump), Christin Hussong (javelin) and Malaika Mihambo (long jump).

The staging of the championships is still dependent on the successful signing of the hosting agreement which should happen in the coming weeks.
