The new-look European Athletics Team Championships Second League will take place in Tel Aviv, Israel on 24-25 June.

The third tier has been expanded to include twelve countries instead of eight. Despite finishing seventh and eighth respectively in Stara Zagora in 2015, Cyprus and Slovenia were both granted a reprieve and they will be joined by four newly promoted countries: Austria, Slovakia, Israel and Moldova.

Israel finished third in the European Athletics Team Championships Third League in Baku in 2015 and while the Second League will present a tougher calibre of opposition, the hosts will expect twelve points from European silver medallist Hanna Minenko in the triple jump and Donald Sanford-Blair in the 400m.

Lithuania and Latvia will be aiming for immediate promotion to the European Athletics Team Championships First League after bringing up the rear in Heraklion in 2015 but Croatia and Serbia are expected to push for promotion along with Hungary, who finished third last time out.
