  • Thiam: “I know I can do something big in Tokyo because I’m so much stronger now”

In the fourth episode of European Athletics’ mini-documentary series My Story, Nafissatou Thiam reflects on her career all the way from winning a pot of jam for winning a cross country race in Belgium to winning the European heptathlon title in Berlin.

That gold medal secured the set of major heptathlon titles at the age of 23. Thiam is also one of only four women to surpass the 7000 points-barrier but the Belgian believes she will be at her peak at the Tokyo Olympics next year.

“Tokyo was always the target,” said Thiam. “I know I can do something big because I’m so much stronger now.”

The fifth episode of #MyStory will be published at 6pm on Thursday 7 January.
