The next presentation in European Athletics’ fourth High Performance Webinar Series will be on Friday 11 March when Dr Jess Piasecki addresses the subject of high performance across the life-span.
Dr Piasecki is a lecturer in Exercise Physiology at Nottingham Trent University in Great Britain as well as being an international athlete. She competed in the Olympic Games maratahon last summer and ran a 2022 European-leading 2:22:27 in the Seville Marathon last Sunday.
She completed her PhD in 2018 in musculoskeletal ageing and has since gone on to continue her research in ageing along with developing her work in female physiology.
The webinar, lasting approximately one hour with the opportunity to ask questions, will look at the physiological changes that occur across the life-span with reference to the fact that to continue to achieve high performance it is essential to be aware of these changes and adapt the training processes accordingly. The topics of the menstrual cycle/female physiology, musculoskeletal health, and the implications of sex hormones on neuromuscular performance will also be addressed.

Once again, the webinars will be hosted by the 2011 World Athletics Championships 1500m silver medallist Hannah England.
The latest High Performance Webinar Series – which are aimed at coaches, sports scientists, performance management personnel and indeed anyone working to deliver high performance results in athletics – follows on the two hugely successful series hosted by European Athletics during 2021 and the inaugeral series in 2020. The last series saw an average of 150 participants involved each of online presentations.
Each webinar is streamed live but also recorded and available for regaistered participants to review at a later date. Previous webinars (from October 2020 onwards) are still available to be watched again.
The High Performance Webinar Series is part of European Athletics’ High Performance Programme, which also includes the High Performance Online Week, High Performance Conference and Coaching Summit Series.
