The sun continued to shine in Banska Bystrica on day 2 as the Slovenian women and Serbian men ended as Champions of the European Cup Second League, Group B. 

In glorious summer weather the best result of the day in men events came from Slovakian Triple Jump record holder Dmitrij Valukevic whose only valid effort was 16.88m beating Vladimir Letnicov of Moldova who produced a good 16.65m to finish second.  

The surprise result of the day was the Israeli Pole Vaulter Yevgeniy Olkhovskiy who improved his lifetime best clearance by 10cm to 5.45m before going on to make three good attempts at 5.55m.

There was an impressive double achieved by Serbian Mirko Petrovic who added the 3,000m crown to his 1500m crown won on Day 1 in an high class 7:58.74 leading all the way.

The hosts added four more victories to that of Valukevic as European leader Jozef Repcik controlled the 800 m (1:49.95), Matus Janecek won the 110 m Hurdles (14.03, -1.2), Marian Bokor was the best in the Javelin (74.19) and the 4x400 m team dominated with a 3:08.77 clocking.

There was also two wins for Cyprus as Ioannis Georgallis was the fastest at 200 m (21.22) and Apostolos Parrelis took the Discus in 54.88.

There was a major shock in the 200m as pre race favorite Ramil Guliyev of Azerbaijan who is silver medallist from World Youth Championships 2007 was running with an injury and finished second in 21.47.

The Slovenian women controlled their lead impressive throughout the day. 

Taking four wins out of the nine remaining events was a record in itself. Sabina Veit who won the 400 m on Saturday dominated the 200 m (23.42), Sonja Roman controlled the 1500 m (4:18.13) and their relay win at 4x400 m was expected (3:36.05).

There was an exciting Long Jump battle as Nina Kolaric achieved her second best jump 6.61m to beat home favourite Jana Veldakova who jumped 6.35m and followed with three fouls).

The hosts, Slovakia had to make do with only one win by hammer record holder Martina Hrasnova (71.62) while Bosnian marathon Olympian Lucy Kimani easily won the 5000 m in 16:18.04 and Israel got two wins by shot putter Abali Jean (15.45) and favorite Irina Lenskiy at 100 m Hurdles (13.35)
