We have already had a sneak peek into what European Athletics has in store for Young Leaders in 2018 through interview with their Youth Team.

So just who are the Young Leaders we have met over the last year?

The Young Leaders that have been introduced to you are part of the European Athletics Young Leaders Youth Team.

What are they there to do?

To ensure things happen for the youth, by the youth - with your best interests at the heart of the process.

They:

-Plan and deliver the Young Leaders Forums

-Assist in outreach programmes such as I Run Clean (irunclean.org)

-Showcase best practice from young leaders

-Share opportunities relevant to young athletics enthusiasts

-Support the development of athletics for young people

-Maintain the Athletics Community for Young Leaders - hopefully a new website coming by 2019!

So what hot projects are on the radar?

Without a shadow of a doubt, the hot topic of the moment has to be Berlin 2018!

This autumn, we have been quietly planning the next biannual Young Leaders Forum which will take place in Berlin next summer.

The forum has been taking shape and workshops created to form a programme which encompasses what we believe to be key development areas for Young Leaders across Europe.

So what exactly is to be expected in Berlin in 2018?

Like previous editions, the forum will run in conjunction with the European Athletics Championships.

We expect to see the coming together of at least one Young Leader from each Member Federation, to make it a truly continental event. One in which will enable the development of a support network for Young Leaders via the sharing of best practices and personal experiences. We would strongly recommend that if possible, Member Federations consider sending an additional Young Leader - because the opportunities the forum affords is sensational!

Further to seminars, workshops and activities, inspirational athletes and guest speakers are integral and have included European Athletics President Svein Arne Hansen and IAAF President Sebastian Coe.

Past participants have used the forum as a catalyst to work for their Federation, sit on European Athletics Commissions and even be part of elusive group with winning IAAF leadership scholarships.

The sixth forum in Berlin promises to take participants on a journey of self reflection and future planning, while making new athletics friends and family for life.

Therefore, the forum theme and hashtags are all about: #mymoment #yourmoment #ourmoment
