The European Athletics website is run by European Athletics Association (EA), an association established under Swiss law with its domicile at Avenue Louis-Ruchonnet 16 in 1003 Lausanne, Switzerland. Hence, EA is the controller of your personal data that is collected through this website.

As part of several of our services, you have the option or you are requested to create a personal user profile ("EA-ID"). This is necessary in order to use some of our services. By logging in with your user profile, you will receive access to to further information about our sport ("Premium Content") or certain e-learning and certification services ("Protected Services"), insofar as you are authorised to do so.

Microsoft Azure Active Directory B2C and associated cookies.

We use Microsoft Azure Active Directory B2C ("AzureAD B2C") to provide efficient, reliable and secure management of the EA-ID.

When you use EA-ID, Azure AD B2C sets cookies that are necessary for the service to function. All Azure B2C cookies are so-called session cookies and are deleted when you close your browser session. Analytics and Tracking by European Athletics

We may use analytics and tracking tools such as Clicky,  Google Analytics and Meta Pixel (formerly Facebook Pixel) on our website including cookies. Please refer to our separate cookie policy for more information in this regard: https://www.european-athletics.com/privacy/cookiemain.

Types of data processed

When you use the EA-ID, the following of your data will be requested and processed:

  • Your name,
  • e-mail address,
  • birthday,
  • gender and
  • place of residence.

In addition, the system automatically generates and processes various technical data. It records and stores when you generated the ID, when you log in and when you log out. In addition, Azure B2C session cookies process some data that is required to authenticate your access.

Legal basis for the data processing

Where your EA-ID is used to access Protected Services, the processing of the data is based on our legitimate interest in making those services available only to authorised and identified persons (Art. 6, para. 1, lit. f EU-GDPR). 

If your EA-ID is created to access Premium Content, the processing is based on your consent (Art. 6, para.1, lit. a EU-GDPR), which you can revoke at any time by closing your EA-ID. Please note that once you have closed your EA-ID, you will no longer be able to access the content protected by it.

Storage period

We store your data until you close your EA-ID. If the data of your EA-ID is used for the use of Protected Services such as our certification services, we store the data as long as the regulations of these services require it.

Data access and transfer to third countries

As our service provider for Azure B2C Microsoft Ireland Operations Ltd, One Microsoft Place, South County Business Park, Leopardstown, Dublin 18 D18 P521, Ireland has access to EA-ID data. As such, the service provider is bound by a data processing agreement to protect the data (Art. 28 EU-GDPR).

To the extent that the EU branch of Microsoft transfers personal data outside the European Union, Switzerland or the European Economic Area, this transfer is secured by contractual agreements, in particular the EU Standard Contractual Clauses. This is the case for the USA.

Use for communication purposes

In the course of registering for EA-ID or at a later point in time in the Preference Center or when registering via EA-ID for one of our services, you have the option of registering to receive our newsletter. If you register for the newsletter, the data required for sending and managing the newsletter will be transferred to our newsletter service provider Brevo (previously Sendinblue). This primarily includes your email address and, where relevant, your preferences for receiving newsletters of certain thematic categories. Access and correction

Once you have successfully logged in, you have the option of accessing the data collected from you yourself via the so-called Preference Center and correcting it if necessary. (Art. 15 and 18. EU-GDPR). Furthermore, you can contact us at any time for this purpose at [email protected], where we will help you as quickly as possible.

Portability

You have the right to receive from us the data stored about you within the framework of the EA-ID in a structured, customary and machine-readable form or to transfer this data to a third party (Art. 20 EU-GDPR).
