The 2021 European 10,000m Cup will no longer be held in conjunction with the Night of the 10,000m PBs in Highgate in north London on 5 June.
British Athletics, alongside the organisers of the Night of the 10,000m PBs, have confirmed this year’s event has been cancelled due to the ongoing pandemic and the difficulties in making the Parliament Hill Athletics Track a Covid-19 secure facility.
“I’m gutted to announce we’ve made the decision to cancel the 2021 Night of the 10,000m PBs. The safety of all involved from officials, to athletes and spectators has to be our obvious priority and the nature of our event and our venue facility have been key in this decision,” said event organiser Ben Pochee.
The Night of the 10,000m PBs was due to incorporate not only the European 10,000m Cup for the third successive edition but also the British Olympic 10,000m Trials.
British Athletics and European Athletics are exploring alternative venue options which have the capacity to stage the European 10,000m Cup as well as the British Olympic Trials.
