  • Applications open for European Athletics' Mentoring Project

European Athletics is set to host the third edition of the Mentoring Project this year and is seeking applications to be part of this successful programme.

Part of the European Athletics Leadership Programme, the Mentoring Project spans one year and accommodates a select number of Mentor-Mentee pairs.

Network opportunities

Its aim is to foster networking opportunities and enhance collaboration among Member Federations. Mentors and Mentees are paired across various Member Federations, with a focus on facilitating the exchange of ideas, best practices, and knowledge.

To be a mentor, individuals must be an experienced athletics professional eager to share and exchange knowledge and network with other people.

To be a mentee, individuals should be in a volunteer or professional role in the early stages of a career in athletics with a high interest in their development and seeking support to reach future goals.

To apply, contact your Member Federation to be nominated.

Following the selection of Mentors and Mentees, the project will start with individual preparation sessions in April followed by an official kick-off event in May.

There will be four online group meetings about general topics to support both mentors and mentees in their leadership journey.

Personal development

Besides the group meetings, we encourage individual meetings on a regular basis between the Mentor and the Mentee during the whole year to work on a specific project or personal development linked to athletics together.

There will be the opportunity to meet each other in person during the Antalya 2024 SPAR European Cross Country Championships on 8 December.
