Ruth Beitia of Spain and Lykourgos-Stefanos Tsakonas of Greece have been voted European Athletes of the Month for June.
Voting for European Athlete of the Month took place through our European Athletics Twitter and Facebook pages over the past weekend. Athletes with the most combined Twitter 'retweets' and Facebook 'likes' were crowned the winners.
Beitia was able to secure the prize with 130 retweets and favourites on Twitter, and more than 350 Facebook likes and shares.
The double reigning European champion leaped to a European-leading height of 2.00m in Rome on 4 June.
With over 1100 likes & shares on Facebook, and 35 'retweets' and favourites, Tsakonas was the winner on the men's side, having sped to a European best time of 20.09 over 200m in Rome on 4 June.
Tsakonas also took the sprinting double for his country at European Team Championships First League in Heraklion earning valuable points for Greece towards promotion to the Super League.
