As part of the mission to achieve the 17 Global Goals set out on the ‘Road to 2030’ agenda, Belgrade 2017 has joined the sustainable drive initiated by ENGSO (European Non-Governmental Sports Organisation) Youth in cooperation with European Athletics and inspired by Green Inspiration initiative.

Volunteers recruited for the European Athletics Indoor Championships will have the chance to take part in the ‘Jump 2 Score Green’ project which will be organised from 4-5 March in the Belgrade Kombank Arena. The exclusive set of workshops is part of an innovative programme for the implementation of the Global Goals for sustainable development (SDGs) through sport and the engagement of youngsters.

‘Jump 2 Score Green’ sessions will allow volunteers to find out about values, actions and possibilities for environmental conservation and preservation as well as keeping sport clubs greener, more active and healthier.

In between sessions at the Kombank Arena, a team made up of delegates across Europe will lead selected participants through the interactive Green stations. At each station, participants will have an opportunity to learn more about the Sustainable Development Goals; how sport can support their implementation; and how individuals can play an active role and make a change.

The goal of the initiative is for all participants to go back home with fresh ideas about how they can contribute to their own neighborhood in order to keep the planet more green, more safe and more inclusive. Volunteers will also have the chance to understand how sporting events can be more sustainable from an economic, social and environmental standpoint.

All across Europe, ‘Jump 2 Score Green’ is raising awareness among youngsters on how sport can contribute to the SDGs and at the same time - how sport can benefit from the implementation of the SDGs in the sport sector.

A “Road to 2030” workshop was successfully held during the Amsterdam 2016 European Athletics Championships last year as part of the Young Leaders Forum. During this workshop, 50 participants were introduced to the Agenda 2030 and the role of sport as a tool to achieve these goals.
