Sustainability serves as an underlying theme between European Athletics and Italian supplier MONDO who have recently been named as European Athletics’ Green Inspiration partner.
The agreement was signed at the Glasgow 2019 European Athletics Indoor Championships from 1-3 March. MONDO served as an official supplier for the sellout three-day championships and will also do so for future major events where the track and flooring is provided by the company, such as the Paris 2020 European Athletics Championships.
European Athletics’ Green Inspiration brand came into being in 2013 to promote sustainability and legacy initiatives at major events. Project examples have included initiatives to protect the environment, teaching good lifestyle habits and promoting social integration and helping others - particularly those who might be discouraged to participate in sport - to get fit through inclusive physical education initiatives.

These initiatives resonate strongly with MONDO’s ethos of sustainability and European Athletics looks forward to working with MONDO on future sustainability initiatives. All MONDO track products - both indoor and outdoor - have achieved the prestigious Greenguard Gold certification which ensures users that their products have met stringent safety and environmental checks, making athletics an even healthier sport to take part in across all levels.
European Athletics and MONDO will now be working closely together to develop further the Green Inspiration brand through EA events and other different initiatives.
