The European Athletics Anti-Doping Programme once again proved popular at the European Youth Olympic Trials in Moscow, Russia, with 153 athletes from 18 countries participating in the programme's activities.

The inaugural Summer Youth Olympic Games (YOG) will be held in Singapore through 14-26 August 2010. The trials ran through 21-23 May.

European Athletics Athletes Commission Member Laurent Ottoz, the Italian champion hurdler, mingled and chatted with athletes in the programme's tent at the stadium during the three-day event.

The activities, aimed at spreading awareness about anti-doping, included a one-minute online quiz and offered the participants access to an educational tool to learn more about anti-doping. The participants also had the chance to take part in a lottery in which they could win event passes for the 2010 European Athletics Championships in Barcelona, Spain, to be held from 26 July to 1 August.

The winners in Moscow were Rene Mí¤hlmann of Germany, Minna-Marjatta Liimatainen of Finland and Laura Izquierdo from Spain, with each of the athletes receiving two event passes for the championships in Barcelona.

The Anti-Doping Education Programme activities are aimed to help athletes gain better understanding of doping-related issues and their own responsibilities.

The programme is organised in co-operation with the IAAF, the World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA) and the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organisation (UNESCO).
