The fifth and final conference in the annual World in World Athletics series of seminars and lectures took place in London from 19-22 May.

The programme is the result of a close collaboration between British Athletics, the University of Loughborough and European Athletics, and staged with the support of the IAAF.

Inaugurated in 2013, the conferences have been designed to develop the legacy of women’s leadership and officiating in athletics, partly in preparation for the IAAF World Championships London 2017, as well as increase the involvement of women in sport at all levels and also in all functions and roles.

All participants since 2013 have had several years as an active competition or administrative official, many at national level, and all of them hold aspirations and ambitions to become leaders in athletics in the future, or to enhance and expand their current roles.

This year there were approximately 80 delegates, around a quarter of whom were invited by European Athletics, bringing the total number of participants over the five years to more than 120 women from nearly 60 countries.

The speakers this year included European Athletics Vice President Jean Gracia and IAAF and European Athletics Council Member Sylvia Barlag.
